The Reel Mower: Simple Yet Effective

I just recently acquired a reel mower from a local Home Depot. The cost was mild and fair because it was an easy assembly and I'll never have to fill it up with costly gas ever again! The reel mower definitely has an upside and a downside. I'll go through both in this hub so that you can make a decision as to whether or not the reel mower is for you.

The main good thing about the reel mower is the cost efficiency. You never have to pay for gas and there are no special skills required to operate it.

The reel mower also gives the cleanest and nicest cut I've ever seen in my days of lawn mowing. The reason for this is because of the way the mower morks. It cuts lengthways, as in, the grass isn't going to be piled into a thick line where you just cut, like with a traditional riding mower. The grass is evenly spread over the lawn immediately after you cut it. No cleanup is necessary, but you can if you want. It is your lawn

The speed at which you mow is completely up to you! There is no slow, medium, or fast switch or lever. It's either leisurely walk, walk, or run! It's completely up to you!

You can also mow over the water hose without having to worry. It just passes over it without leaving a single cut.

The reel mower doesn't like sticks or mulch. It gets stuck on even the smallest wooden obstructions but can easily be fixed by taking your foot and turning the blades backwards.

Mowing around trees and bushes can be a pain. You have to use a back and forth motion that is similar to vacuuming a carpet. It can be quite strenuous.

Don't purchase this if you have a large yard! The reel mower is great exercise and can be a great way to get into shape, however a large lawn could leave you exhausted, dehydrated, and possibly in the hospital. So just remember, if you do buy a reel mower, take it easy. Don't try and mow the lawn in one swoop. Noone's asking you to be a lawn-mowing hero.

 Overall, I highly recommend getting a reel mower if you want to save money, exercise, and have an excellently cut lawn.
